Little Farmer’s Cay to George Town, Bahamas

Feb. 8, 2014
A pretty typical morning, we rolled out of bed at about 6:30 a.m., I made coffee and breakfast and Daniel listed to the weather over the SSB radio.  We decided the winds were good enough to go ahead and pull up anchor and head out towards Cave Cay.  It isn’t far “down the road” so to speak, only about 10 miles.  It has the opening we want to use that will easily let us out into the Atlantic Ocean.  Well, once we got there, it looked so calm that we decided to go ahead and go on out, so we did.  We had some new friends tell us about a Sandals Resort (Emerald Bay) that only charges a $1.00 a foot to park there for the night and we decided to head for it.  So we were about an hour away and called them on the radio to make a reservation for the $1.00/foot docking space and was told – it’s a $1.00 if you stay 3 nights, otherwise it’s $2.25/foot.  Well, as you know, we are on a “budget” and that was more than we were will to spend and on top of that, we haven’t stayed anywhere 3 nights yet, we get antsy and want to move on so we told them “no, thanks”.  We decided to travel another 2 hours and arrive in George Town where we can throw out our anchor for the night.  The trip down to George Town on the Atlantic Ocean side has had some 4-5 waves along the way but the shoreline view was magnificent.  I’m so glad we are getting to see it.   We are close enough to shore that we can see the waves crashing  up against the rocks and it’s just beautiful to see.  Also the terrain is quite diverse.  You’ll see white sandy beaches and then you’ll see large rocks and little mountains.  In and all, a very enjoyable trip to George Town.
