Allan's Cay to Norman's Cay

January 31, 2014  (I'm adding dates because as we are out of wifi range, I have to put dates on my entries to keep up)
We started the day in Allan Cay with a 45’ sailboat coming at us with a woman talking loudly and apologizing.  Apparently, their anchor drug them last night and they hit a boat – they thought it was us and she wanted to apologize.  By bedtime there were probably 20-25 boats in the anchorage and they bumped someone, but it wasn’t us.  I thought it was nice of them to actually come near us and try to apologize.  Our boat was fine, untouched – so they must have bumped someone else during the night.

We left Allan Cay, mostly because it was too crowded and headed towards Norman’s Cay.  There is an airstrip on Norman’s Cay and there is a story about a famous plane crash into the shallow water by drug runners.  So with me on the bow watching again for coral reefs we made it to Norman’s Cay and found a great anchorage in front of the island, protecting us from strong winds.  We arrived around lunchtime so we put out the anchor, made lunch and just relaxed.  I was already too sunburned to go out again in the middle of the day.  Early in the afternoon, we loaded up on sunscreen and headed in D-Time to go find the airplane wreck.  We were able to find it and then found a neat little island.  We pulled D-Time ashore and walked around finding so many shells that I ended up just leaving them.  There isn’t enough room on board for them all.  I found sand dollars and lots of beautiful conch shells.
We loaded back up in D-Time and started heading back to C-Time and found a large coral reef on the way back and we put out D-Time’s anchor.  We put on our snorkeling equipment and had a blast.  The fish are amazing to see – so many beautiful colors.  The different corals are awesome as well.  We snorkeled around for about an hour and then back to C-Time for dinner.
